Guidelines For Making a Bequest to the Arundel Fund

Your bequest to The Arundel Fund is a valuable gift towards the future of music in regional New South Wales and beyond.

Your bequest can be in many forms; it could be a share in your estate, a gift of cash or shares, or a physical gift such as real estate. Additionally a bequest can be named in your honour, or in honour of a loved one; as a special memory and an enduring legacy through The Arundel Fund

If you would like to leave a bequest to The Arundel Fund in your Will, there are a number of ways you can do so. You should discuss your options with a legal adviser to see which is best in your circumstances. Some suggestions for leaving a bequest to The Arundel Fund are provided below:

  • You may wish to leave a specific amount to The Arundel Fund
  • You may wish to leave the whole of your estate to The Arundel Fund
  • You may wish to leave a percentage of your estate to The Arundel Fund
  • You may wish to leave gifts to other people or organisations, and then leave the balance of your estate to The Arundel Fund
  • You may wish to leave gifts to other people or organisations, and leave a percentage of the balance of your estate to The Arundel Fund
  • You may wish to leave property or a specific item or items to The Arundel Fund

As our activities and needs may change over time, we encourage you to leave a bequest for the general purposes of the The Arundel Fund rather than towards a specific project or item.

Suggested Wording for Inclusion in Your Will

Leaving a gift in your will is a simple process that could make a real difference.

If you do not have a will and wish to create one, it is a good idea to seek legal advice.

If you already have a will, then all you need to do is add a codicil – a short legal amendment to your existing will.

Some suggestions for leaving a bequest to The Arundel Fund are provided below. While this wording may assist your legal adviser in preparing or amending your will, it is intended as a guide only. Accordingly, you should consult with your legal adviser to ensure that your will is valid at law and is drafted in a way that best caters for your circumstances.

(a) If you want to leave a specific amount to The Arundel Fund:

“I GIVE the sum of $[amount shown in words and figures (e.g. $10,000 (ten thousand dollars))], free of all debts, duties and taxes, to The Arundel Fund, PO Box 1387, Bathurst NSW 2795, to be used for its general purposes and I DECLARE that the receipt of the The Arundel Fund is sufficient discharge of my Executor’s duty.”

OR

(b) If you want to leave the whole of your estate to The Arundel Fund:

“I GIVE the whole of my estate, free of all debts, duties and taxes, to The Arundel Fund, PO Box 1387, Bathurst NSW 2795, to be used for its general purposes and I DECLARE that the receipt of the The Arundel Fund is sufficient discharge of my Executor’s duty.”

OR

(c) If you want to leave a percentage of your estate to The Arundel Fund

“I GIVE [percentage in words and figures (e.g. 10% (ten percent))] of my estate, free of all debts, duties and taxes, to The Arundel Fund, PO Box 1387, Bathurst NSW 2795, to be used for its general purposes and I DECLARE that the receipt of The Arundel Fund is sufficient discharge of my Executor’s duty.”

OR

(d) If you want to give gifts to other people or organisations, and leave the rest of your estate to The Arundel Fund

“I GIVE the rest and residue of my estate, free of all debts, duties and taxes, to The Arundel Fund, PO Box 1387, Bathurst NSW 2795, to be used for its general purposes and I DECLARE that the receipt of The Arundel Fund is sufficient discharge of my Executor’s duty.”

OR

(e) If you want to give gifts to other people or organisations, and leave a percentage of your estate to Mitchell Conservatorium

“I GIVE [percentage in words and figures (eg 10% (ten percent))] of the residue of my estate, free of all debts, duties and taxes, to The Arundel Fund PO Box 1387, Bathurst NSW 2795, to be used for its general purposes and I DECLARE that the receipt of The Arundel Fund is sufficient discharge of my Executor’s duty.”

OR

(f) If you want to leave property or a specific item or items to The Arundel Fund

You may wish to leave property, specific possessions, shares or insurance to The Arundel Fund. The Arundel Fund is able to receive such bequests, however you should discuss the precise wording needed for your specific circumstances with your legal adviser.
